Dementia is a term used to describe symptoms that arise when the brain is affected by certain diseases and conditions. There are more than 100 types of dementia, all of which are progressive, with symptoms worsening over time.
Those affected often feel vulnerable. At BS Care, our care staff are trained to be tactful and sensitive, offering reassurance and helping individuals with dementia retain their sense of identity and self-worth.
As individuals with dementia lose their language skills, non-verbal communication such as gestures, facial expressions, and touch become increasingly important. Our specialist carers are skilled at interpreting these alternative modes of communication.
We also understand the importance of maintaining physical health and well-being for individuals with dementia. Dementia can impact an individual’s relationship with food and exercise, which can directly affect their overall health. Our specialist carers are trained to encourage and assist with these areas to help individuals with dementia lead the fullest life possible.
